Flowers are really expensive. I talked to many vendors who had a $1000 minimum...say what? So again, I would emphasize choosing a beautiful location, and then you don't need lots of crazy decor.
The only thing I spent money on was outdoor lights (~$250); these have great mileage. A few string lights look awesome at night.
There are plenty of ways to save on wedding florals… Pick flowers that are in season so your florist won’t have to import any exotic or out-of-season blooms. Stick to just one or two kinds of flowers. Re-use your bridesmaid’s bouquets for the reception or head table. Opt for lower floral arrangements rather than tall floral centrepieces.
For the Flowers: Choose carefully where you put them. If a crowd is coming, they need to be placed high on a plinth or surface. Often one incredible collection of mixed blooms in mixed containers as an entry spectacle is the way to go; alternately, a zillion vases on every available surface and across the top of doors looks lovely and means they are never lost from view.
